To make a DIY Christmas star you will need:
- Unused fabric, can be from old pants, leftover fabric cutoffs, or get creative at your local thrift store.
- Cereal boxes
- Printed paper star templates – found here
- Spray mount adhesive
- Fabric glue or glue stick
- Scissors
Step 1: This paper star template has 3 options for the star size. Decide what size star you’d like to make and print out the relevant templates.
Step 2: Cut out the star templates. Use your spray adhesive to glue the cut templates to your cereal box cardboard.
Step 3: After your paper star templates are glued to the cardboard you can cut around the borders. Now fold the templates according to the marked out lines. Be sure to fold the outer edges back. These will be used to attach the star points together.
Step 4: Trace your 5 star templates against your upcycled fabric. Cut the fabric according to the traced lines.
Step 5: Glue your cut upcycled fabric to the star templates.
Step 6: Glue the star templates shut by glueing the outside edge into the inside of the cone. You will now have 5 star points.
Step 7: Overlap the outer edges of your star points and glue to secure.
Step 8: Add your beautiful DIY Christmas star to the top of your Christmas tree!
