What could be more merry than dinosaur snow globes?! In the run up to the holidays we wanted to make a really fun upcycle. After much experimentation we decided on Santa hat wearing, gold dinosaur snow globes. We smile every time that we look at them! They’d make a really sweet present and are great for adding festive cheer. Read on for the tutorial on how to make them.

To make these dinosaur snow globes you will need:

• Used glass jars for upcycling
• Dinosaurs
• Gold Spray paint
• Glue gun
• Ornaments/presents
• Fake snow/cut up plastic bags
• Red felt
• Mini pom poms
• Glitter

These waterless snow globes are super easy to make. You will need to assemble little jars for use. We save our glass jars year round so had lots on hand. These assorted jars were once used for jam, honey, spices and pasta sauce. A good trick for taking off the labels is to wash your jars in warm, soapy water and then apply a paste of baking soda and olive oil to the residue. Let it sit for a bit and use a sponge to wipe it crystal clean!

Once our jars were assembled we sprayed our jar lids and dinosaurs with gold spray paint. We found these dinosaurs in the toy section of our local thrift shop. While everything was drying we made Santa hats from scraps of red felt and miniature white pom poms. Roll your felt into little cones and use a hot glue gun to secure. We then glued the hats onto the dinosaurs and the dinosaurs onto the bottom of the jars.

The little presents were leftover decorations from last year. We’re sure they would be easy to find or imitate using gift wrap and ribbon. Make the fake snow by cutting up bits of clear plastic bags. For a final touch we added a pinch of glitter to each of our dinosaur snow globes.

Pro tip: If you want to make the tree mason jar snow globes look out for trees in the holiday section of your local dollar store. Glue these to the top of your mason jar and add fake snow. Our mason jars were once pasta sauce containers!
